Who We Are
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina operates three club sites located in Beaufort, Morehead City and Havelock. the Clubs reach more than 1,200 (6 – 18 year olds) each year. On any given day more than 258 children are involved in our programs with a vast majority spending approximately 3.5 hours at the Club. A snapshot of those children is as follows:
- 57% are boys and 43% are girls
- 39% are minorities
- 55% live in single parent households
- 50% live in households earning less than $25,000 annually
- The vast majority are involved with no other youth development organization.
- 85% are considered latchkey children
- 80% of the children served are between the ages of six to twelve.
In keeping with its mission, the Clubs are open each school day from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. The Clubs also open from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on teacher planning days, many holidays and throughout the winter, spring and summer breaks. The Clubs offer programs in five core areas, which include: Education and Career Development, Character and Leadership development; Health and Life Skills; the Arts; and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
