Who We Are
Organization Overview
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh, Inc., previously Catholic Social Ministries, began in 1899 as the Catholic Orphanage of North Carolina and has maintained non-profit status since 1983. We serve people of all faiths or no faith tradition. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh provides services in the 54 most eastern counties in North Carolina, through eight regional offices.
Our mission, values, services, and commitment remain constant in serving all people in need. The agency offers four core programs: Disaster Services, Food Pantry Services, Family Advancement Services and Immigration Legal Services. Catholic Charities also advocates for social and economic justice, as well as addressing immediate needs with emergency resources or direct services. We strive to be the agency of ‘first resort’ as well as the agency of ‘last resort’ for the poor and marginalized in the community. We work to inform the public so they know that they can come to us as soon as they need help, as well as once they have been turned away from other agencies.
