CCA programs share a common thread. Each program helps change lives by providing needed resources and support.
Child & Family Development Services provides family-focused child development programs through Head Start, Early Head Start, NC Pre-K and Childcare Services. Additionally, those families who qualify receive intensive case management to help families set goals, achieve positive coutcomes and move out of poverty to become self-sufficient. Serves Carteret, Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties.
Weatherization Assistance Program provides qualified, low-income elderly and disabled individuals and families with the opportunity to have their energy costs reduced. Serves Carteret, Duplin, New Hanover and Onslow Counties.
Heating and Air Repair and Replacement Program eliminates health and safety issues related to the primary heating system in the homes of qualified applications. Serves Carteret, Duplin, New Hanover and Onslow Counties.
Urgent Repair Program's goal is to alleviate housing conditions which pose an imminent threat to the life or safety of low and very love inocme homeowners with special needs. Serves Carteret, Duplin and Onslow Counties.
Single Family Rehab Program enables homeowners to receive renovation and repair work to their homes. Serves Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Onslow and Pender Counties.
Foster Grandparent Program utilizes volunteer services of elderly, low-income citizens 55 and older to provide services to children with special needs. These volunteers work from 15-40 hours per week. Services Carteret, Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties.
Senior Companion Program allows family caregivers the opportunity to receive support for the elderly and handicapped. The Senior Companion must be 60 or older. Serves Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenior and Pamlico Counties.
Retired Senior Volunteers Program serves as a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities for individuals aged 55 and older. Serves Carteret and Craven Counties.
Section 8 Housing Assistance provides rental subsidies for low-income families. These subsidies enable families to rent affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing. Serves Carteret County.
Section 8 Housing Assistance Family Self Sufficiency Program offers families receiving Section 8 Housing Assistance the opportunity to participate in a self-sufficiency program. Serves Carteret County.
What We Do
Coastal Community Action, Inc. (CCA) is a private corporation with a very public mission. Our mission statement is "To respectfully and responsibly help people help themselves." CCA was incorporated in 1965 as part of a nationwide, federally funded, community action movement whose focus is to intimately involve low-income people in developing their own solutions to persistent poverty. CCA achieves this by assisting low-income families in 9 countries (Carteret, Craven, Dupolin, Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico and Pender) through a variety of services.
