Long term recovery starts around 60-90 days after a disaster. Those that have unmet needs, (when all their resources are accounted for and/or exhausted), work with case management to form a recovery plan and set goals for themselves. Since everyone has different circumstances the needs will vary from home to home. CCDRA has the ability and experience to seek out the networks that provide not only actual funds to aid in recovery, but also the organizations that provide volunteers, materials, spiritual, and support teams that all play a role in the whole community recovery.
Another goal is assisting Craven County entities as needed and requested which frees the county departments to focus on the many pressing tasks they are dealing with in a disaster.
Lastly, we look to the future. How can we do it better?
Disaster recovery ends when one of three things happens: all unmet needs are met, resources are depleted, or volunteers stop volunteering.
