Who We Are

Cub Scouts: The Cub Scout program is a fun and educational experience combined with values. Boys can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, focusing on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service. Cub Scouting, while it is designed for boys in the first through fifth grades, this program involves the whole family. Cub Scouts learn that even when fun isn’t easy, it’s always an adventure - everything has a purpose. Parents know their youth are learning values and social skills, building confidence, and volunteering in their community.

Boy Scouts: The Boy Scout program is a traditional Scouting experience for young men ages 11 through 18. Service, community engagement, and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting ranks.  Scouts are guided by experienced, trained leaders, but boys take their own lead, exploring places they've never been as they dive into the rugged world of outdoor adventure. With the exposure to a uniquely hands-on learning experience through earning merit badges that reflect each boy's budding interests, they unlock a world of discovery around them, and forge their path for the future. Scouting fosters leadership, self-esteem, self-reliance, a sense of accountability, and teamwork.  The program builds boys mentally, physically, socially, and morally. The skills they learn in Scouting help them overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives including making the right not the easiest decisions. Venturing: Venturing is a coed program for young adults ages 14 through 20. Venturing’s motto, “Lead the Adventure,” reminds Venturers to always pursue life in the spirit of adventure.  Venturers discover a world of excitement full of heart-pounding adventure, while they develop a lifestyle of genuine friendship and caring for others.  Venturing is unique because it utilizes outdoor adventure as the method for building character, leadership and independence while encouraging young men and women to give back to each other, as well as, their community.  Venturing is very flexible and can be designed to meet the needs of all teens preparing for high school or college. Exploring: Exploring is a co-ed worksite-based program designed to expose youth to a possible career.  Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and organizations in a community. The program’s activities help youth pursue their career interests plus grow and develop good work ethics and educational paths.  Explorers are young men and women, 6th grade – 20.

STEM – Minority Outreach Program: The STEM Outreach program adds Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to the traditional programs.  An activity program has been designed that leads to earning of Nova and Super Nova STEM Awards.  Each program has its own age appropriate awards.  The program teaches skills in these programs, applies them to hands-on activities and shows the long term relevancy these skills.  Mentors, special guest and field trips are part of the program. The program meets for 90 minutes bi-weekly and includes field trips throughout the year. The council provides leadership and 90% of the cost of the program and field trips. STEM is used to reach youth and parents who may not understand or think Scouting is relevant.  It is placed in locations where minority and low income youth live to make transportation easier.
